Sixteen Sprigs
If you’ve been a Sixteen Sprigs friend in the past, you know we’ve been growing lavender in the Lansing area since 2014, but in 2023 we spread our wings. We’re pleased as punch that we opened a new farm just up the road in Alma. In 2024 we sold our Lansing farm so now have only one location to visit. Farming in rural Gratiot County is more difficult than growing lavender in the city and we’re still learning, but the lavender is both beautiful and bountiful. We have around 1200 plants established and are still planting more each year.

The native vegetation in central Michigan is conducive to some amazing wildflowers and some very pretty grasses so we are busily preparing a pollinator habitat to keep the birds and bees happy. We’re MAEAP (Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance
Program) verified and we’re trying to adopt farming practices as eco-friendly as possible. MEAPP is the State of Michigan environmental program that verifies we do no environmental harm to the land we are lucky to care for. We farm with organic methods even though we are not certified.

We urge you to come experience the farm with us. You’re welcome to take one of our many tours or workshops, or come by for u-pick from mid June to late July and sit awhile in our fields while enjoying our locally made lavender ice cream. Check out our “Experience” page for more details. We do hope you will take some time to enjoy the sweet fragrance of lavender as it wafts through the country air. We look forward to sharing our little slice of France with you, right here in Gratiot County.
